Story of the song: "Sari Gelin"

Stories regarding the origin of Azerbaijani folk song "Sari Gelin" there are several theories. And they are quite contradictory. Probably for this reason, Armenian music theorists put forward their own version is quite different from the real, but still circulating in some countries.

Excursion into the history leads to interesting conclusions, which could be one of the basic versions. It is known that the Russian army in the 20-30 years of the 19th century, seizing a part of the Ottoman Empire until the city of Erzurum. According to legend, one of the Turkish generals fell in love with the beautiful blonde Slavic and dedicated her poems under the title "A blond girl." Later in the poem was written music.

There is another interpretation of the song title. The word В«sariВ» implies a hue and color (yellow, straw-colored, light brown, to a woman blonde) and a bright beginning of the human soul, which is identified with its high, clean quality. Thus, the word В«sariВ» has a figurative meaning. Perhaps that is why, the very expression "Sari Gelin" refers to the ideal of female beauty.

In support of the latest version is a sura of the Koran "Baqarah" (cow), which has a verse of "Risen yellow cow." Here, the word В«sariВ» is associated with the name of Fatima Zohra saint, which was a pure, chaste woman, and this color was her unifying symbol. Thus, we can assume that the song "Sari Gelin" extols the purity and nobility of women.

His version of the authorship of the song pushed the head of research laboratory of the National Conservatory of Azerbaijan Abbasgulu Najafzade. He writes that the author of the music and poetry "Sari Gelin" is the poet of the XVI century, the commander Shah Ismail Khatai. According to his theory, Shah Ismail Khatai drew attention to the dance of a girl dressed in yellow, and under the influence of her art, created the work.

At the same time, as noted musician Ibrahim Gasimov, singers Anadolu argued that the music belongs to them. Abbasgulu Najafzade, in turn, argues that "Sari Gelin" based on the mode Mugham, and as "the art of mugham belongs to Azerbaijan, have long puzzled over this is not worth it."

People's Artist of Azerbaijan Akif Islamzade expressed a different view:

"I can safely say that the history of the song" SarД± GЙ™lin "dates back to the pre-Islamic period. Song archaic and built a 3-4 notes. At the beginning of VII century, the word В«sariВ» was to make sense of something big. For the ancient Turks, It represented nobility and gentleness.

We have this word has two meanings - the color and delicate strings of the soul. Before Islam, the people in Oghuz tribes had a specific culture. If based on historical sources, we have developed the Oghuz musical culture, and the inherent intonation is heard in this song. In those days, when the two men came, they turned not to the 35-year-old girl's mother, and a gray-haired grandmother. Therefore, in the song there were lines В«Seni mene vermezler ay Nenen olsunВ» (They will not give you to me, even if your grandmother fall the victim!)

So, as we can see, there are a lot of versions, but none of them has to do with the Armenian culture. And there is no doubt that its origins must be sought in ancient Azerbaijan folklore.
